Redbridge staff raise funds for charity

Redbridge Produce & Flowers Fishguard branch sponsored a local school's fundraising for the World Cancer Research Fund by donating fresh fruit; the school raised £92 for the charity. RP&F Gateshead branch sponsored 5000 pieces of fruit for local schools in the South Shields area for the same charity. They also handed out information on healthy eating and 5 a day.

Peterborough head office raised over £600 for 12 different charities during 2004, including Crisis, Macmillan Nurses, and the NSPCC, through "dress down day" donations.

Head Office accountant Hazel Newell completed a 13,000 ft tandem skydive with her husband to raise £1800 for Great Ormond Street hospital; and a group of staff from Caterfresh are planning a parachute jump later this year to raise funds for the Francis House Children's Hospice; contact claire.megarry@caterfresh.com to pledge cash for this worthy cause.

As part of our charity programme Redbridge has built an alliance with the British Heart Foundation to promote the link between a healthy diet and a healthy heart.

Eating fresh fruit and vegetables daily helps improve our health; in addition most fruit and vegetables are fat-free, so they are perfect for anyone trying to reduce cholesterol or calories in their diet.

Redbridge staff get involved in regular fundraising for the charity - in 2003 we raised £16,000 for BHF - as well as training in resuscitation techniques to help save lives.

Tolworth Finance Manager Larisha Engelbrecht recently completed the London to Brighton cycle ride to raise money for the British Heart Foundation. The gruelling 60 mile journey was completed in around six hours, with a break for lunch.
