Redbridge Repositions Itself For Growth

19 April 2004

Redbridge, one of the UK's leading suppliers of fresh produce solutions, today announces a business and divisional restructure following the buy out of 3I's equity stake in the Company.

The Redbridge Group has grown significantly in its first nine years and is now ready to make the next steps in its business development. As part of this process the Group has been restructured into three distinct market-focused sectors, each headed by its own Managing Director:

  • Redbridge Produce & Flowers, the Group's core activity, will remain focused on local wholesaling to the independent retail and food service markets, along with School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme contracts, and will be led by Graeme Hinchley who has been with the Redbridge Group since its inception.
  • Redbridge Worldfresh is a rebrand bringing together Redbridge's importation and procurement activities together with its multiple retail supply companies. Redbridge Worldfresh incorporates Redbridge AFI, The Summerfruit Company, Redeva and Richard Parke-Davies, who joined the Group in 1999, will lead the sector; with Graham Blake taking responsibility for The Summerfruit Company, Redbridge's soft and stone fruit activity, and Tony Ganio continuing to head up trading activities in other areas.
  • Redbridge Fresh Services is a newly-formed division, which has been created to bring together the Group's category management activities in catering and retail. The former divisions of Caterfresh (foodservice) and Field Fresh (retail) will now be part of Redbridge Fresh Services. Steve Harrison, who joined the Group in 1997, will lead this sector; Steve will be supported by David Burns who will head the foodservice division, and Colin Dams, who recently joined the Group from Tesco, who will continue to head the retail division.

Redbridge Chief Executive, Denis Punter said: "Redbridge has grown substantially in recent years and the prospects for further growth are significant. We have established an industry-leading management team committed to providing our customers and suppliers with the best service; and these changes have been made to enhance our customer focus, and set the foundations for Redbridge to make further progress."
