Skelmersdale new customer

New Customer Strengthens Redbridge's Commitment to Promoting Healthy Eating
Redbridge Produce & Flowers' Wigan depot is celebrating the win of another supply contract. This new customer is Skelmersdale Community Food Initiative, which is a government initiative funded by the National Lottery to promote healthy eating.

The Initiative has launched a Food Co-op in Skelmersdale which aims to provide high quality, affordable and nutritious food to local residents. This non-profit scheme is targeting areas with poor access to fresh produce, in an attempt to increase their intake of fruit and vegetables.

The Scheme promotes the National 5-a-Day Programme and joins the many other government initiatives aiming to encourage healthier eating. Information for the Department of Health highlights that consuming at least five portions of fruit and vegetables a day can reduce the risk from heart disease, stroke and cancer by up to 20%.

Redbridge Produce & Flowers is already a keen and longstanding supporter of the government's 5-a-day programme and its National School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme. We are delighted to be part of such an important and worthwhile new initiative and look forward to working further with local communities to improve their diet.
