Gateshead Staff get Qualified

Our Gateshead depot is taking part in the 'eQ8 Employer Training Pilot', a government funded scheme in the North East which entitles our employees to on-the-job training, resulting in an NVQ (National Vocational Qualification). The eQ8 scheme offers flexible training at a time and location to suit the employer and the individual, as well as funding to cover training costs, compensation for wage costs and free tailored information, advice and guidance for both companies and individual employees.

Our Gateshead drivers are currently working towards the 'Carry and Deliver Goods NVQ Level 2', with training provided by a company called 'Van Hee', who are the leading suppliers of training to the transport and distribution industry. The NVQ is not time limited and there are no formal examinations involved, therefore the more effort that is put in by the candidate, the faster they can receive their qualifications. Future NVQs to be offered to Gateshead employees are 'Storage and Warehousing' and 'Driving Goods Vehicles'.

This pilot scheme gives individuals the chance to improve their skills, which in turn will help Redbridge to raise the level of service offered to our customers. Hopefully the pilot will prove a success, allowing our employees across the UK the opportunity to benefit from new qualifications.
